Tony’s 1998 Corvette

MY CORVETTE by Tony Roe
Like most boys when growing up, I was into Muscle Cars, especially Corvettes, Camaros and Rods. I also loved bikes and when I was 18 bought my first bike, which was a Ducatti Desmo 500. Two years later I bought my first Harley and then an old 1942 Indian which I slowly restored.
The desire for a Muscle Car was still flowing in my blood so I bought a Rod, a black 1928 Essex Roadster. After selling the Rod (donated proceeds to purchasing a farm!), bought another Harley, however, still had a yearning for a good car.

Easter last year, Di and I went to Glenelg for lunch and when walking around came across the Corvette Club Nationals. Di saw this wild red Corvette and when we went over for a look, it had a "For Sale" sign on it. It was a 1998 C5 Coupe and was immaculate with only 5,000 kms on the clock. I knew this was the car for me, so I rang the number, talked to David Sparks and we met that day and negotiated a deal for the Corvette.
We are really glad we went to Glenelg that day. Since then we have had a lot of enjoyment cruising-it is just such a great car!
