Corvette club of South Australia Inc.

The weather gods were kind to us for the last run of the winter, a nice day greeted those who made their way to the meeting point at the Frewville Shopping Centre. After a quick bakery pit stop for some it was time for the 9 Corvettes, 1 Mustang, 1 Falcon and a WB Statesman to head off towards Strathalbyn. At the top of the freeway we turned off and headed through Stirling for the first stage of the run. A scenic path along the ridgeline to Clarendon gave some good views out to the coast before we headed towards Willunga Hill, through Kangarilla and taking a right further south towards Mount Compass. It was at this location that KB had to make an emergency stop for fuel, after adding 61 litres to his 65 litre capacity tank (that's running on fumes by Corvette standards) it was time to make the last leg into Strathalbyn via Ashbourne.
On arriving in Strath we were surprised to see an unfamiliar bronze/white coloured C1 parked outside our destination - the historic Victoria Hotel. After parking our cars it was a short stroll back to the pub for lunch. The usual lunchtime banter ensued with only one awkward moment when a "vice-presidential marital tiff" was narrowly avoided…...please memorise the date of your wedding anniversary Stu! (or get it tattooed on your arm or something). The owner of the C1 outside the pub came over and introduced himself, apparently this car lives down at Murray Bridge. With lunch finished the discussion soon moved on to the most important highlight of the day……our President KB's birthday. With a piece of cake complete with candle presented it was time for the traditional rendition of the 'Happy Birthday' song.
It was soon time to start the trek home with a few of us travelling together back towards Mt Barker, it was in this major metropolis that some of our city slickers became a bit "geographically challenged" and needed to be guided back to the freeway……maybe we need to add a GPS to the club merchandise list!
Thanks to all those who made the effort to come along, hope you had an enjoyable day out.
